The recent advancements in optical and information technology have turned the science fiction of contactless 3D sensing into science fact. 3D sensing has become commercially available in consumer electronics and gaming platforms, and it has great potential in several applications such as gesture recognition and control, motion tracking, and touchless interfaces.
At Nanocomp we have developed illumination elements for two main 3D sensing technologies, namely structured light and time of flight (ToF). Our elements provide large illumination angles and highly customisable and uniform light signals. Our cost efficient high precision mass production process allows the optical element thickness down to 0.05 mm enabling miniaturisation of the 3D sensing systems.
