Nanocomp is a privately-held company established in 1997 to implement strong expertise in basic and applied optics research into advanced technology products. Focusing on design, manufacture and replication of optical components, Nanocomp carries out continuous research and development to provide versatile services for various branches of industry. Nanocomp’s facilities are located in Lehmo, near the city of Joensuu in eastern Finland. Joensuu can be easily reached by several daily flight connections via Helsinki.

Executive Team

	Veli-Pekka LeppänenChief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Mr. Leppänen has 13 years of experience in nano- and micro-photonics. Prior to joining he held several positions at University of Joensuu. He joined to Nanocomp 1998 as Development Manager and since 2002 he has held his position as CEO. In addition to his strong background of photonics, he has actively participated to advisory committees in the field of nanotechnology and photonics. He holds Ph. D. degree in the field of photonics from Joensuu University.
	Pekka SavanderVice President and Co-Founder Dr Savander has 20 years of experience in diffractive and micro-optics. Year 2006 he graduated the Further Qualification in Foreign Trade degree from the Finnish Institute for International Trade. Before joining Nanocomp at 1999 he hold positions of Technology Manager and Manager of International Cooperation at Joensuu Science Park. He was actively establishing Nanocomp in 1996-1997. After his PhD degree from University of Joensuu in 1993 he joined Abloy Oy, member of Assa-Abloy group, holding Product Designer position in optical coding team of construction locking business unit. During his PhD studies in 1991-1992 Savander was visiting researcher at University of Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany and at National Physical Laboratory in England.
	Matti EronenSales Director Mr. Eronen brings to Nanocomp over 12 years extensive sales, project and operation management experience from the wide global business sectors. Prior to joining Nanocomp, he was a Account Director for PKC Group Oyj. The PKC Group offers design and contract manufacturing services for wiring harnesses, cabling and electronics. Prior to this role, he was working in several management positions in Perlos Oyj (at present part of LITEONMOBILE) the field of global project and operation management. LITEONMOBILE provides design driven, technologically innovative solutions for mobile handsets. He holds MSc in the field of Industrial Engineering and Management from Lappenranta University of Technology.
	Samuli SiitonenChief Technology Officer Mr. Siitonen joined the Nanocomp team in 2001, while he was simultaneously conducting scientific research in physics at the University of Joensuu in Micro and Nanophotonics group. He applies wide-ranging knowledge gained from experimental research and industry-related cooperation in multiple areas of manufacturing technology in field of nano- and micro-optics. Mr. Siitonen received his Ph. D. in diffractive optics for light guide applications. Currently he holds the position as CTO.
